Together with the Southern Oregon Meth Project and local volunteers, CFSS visits junior and senior high schools to talk with students about the meth crisis in our region. Included in the DVD is a curriculum guide for educators, parents and activists to help them take the discussion of this important topic to a deeper level. Call 541-882-3198 to schedule a visit at your school or to order the DVD. The cost of the DVD is $15 (no tax, includes shipping & handling).
RIP CITY RIDERS FUN RUN 2010
You won't miss them when they come to town, and trust us, you don't want to! The Rip City Riders of Oregon, a group of motorcycle enthusiasts with big hearts, will come cruising through the Klamath Basin on July 10th. The Rip City Riders choose an organization each year to support, and this year they've chosen Citizens for Safe Schools. The event will be fun, and all proceeds benefit Citizens for Safe Schools. If you've never seen the 300 or so bikes these folks bring to the basin, don't miss it this year! To sign up or for more information about the fun run and family festival, contact Rip City Riders www.ripcityridersoregon.com
Town Hall Forum
Parents are invited to hear from the experts on issues related to cyber bullying, aggression, and youth substance abuse at the Klamath County Fairgrounds. Light refreshments and child care are provided. We hope all parents will use this opportunity to become better aware of what is going on in the schools and to "pick the brains" of the experts as to what to do about many of the issues. Date for 2011 to be determined.
VEGAS AT THE RUNNING Y

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT NETWORK
Citizens for Safe Schools is proud to be part of the Youth Development Network or YDN. The YDN is part of the AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) project. The YDN works to connect youth agency's in an effort to leverage their collective impact. The Klamath-Lake Chapter has an impressive 54 agency's involved who meet 6-8 times a year.
YOUTH HARVEST
The Klamath Youth Harvest is a joint project with Rotary First Harvest of Oregon, Klamath County Master Gardeners and Oregon State University Extension Office. This special six month project (from April to October) pairs mentors and mentees for one hour a week working with the project partners planning, planting and harvesting fruits, vegetables and flowers. Mentors and mentees must meet the same guidelines as participants of the year- long Kids in the Middle mentoring program. These participants, however, focus their time around the garden: planting, learning to cook vegetables, showing produce in the county fair or selling it at the farmers market and, most importantly, harvesting the produce for our local Klamath County Food Bank. Launched in 2003, this annual project has become a community favorite and one the young people truly enjoy! For more information contact CFSS or OSU Extension at 541-883-7131.
